Nebulize
Nebulizing is a convenient therapy that provides quick relief to the lungs and respiratory track. It reduces inflammation in the lungs and opens airways. Although effective and needed in some more severe situations, nebulizing the commonly prescribed albuterol is reserved for last resort situations in my home. Instead, we nebulize a concoction of hydrogen peroxide, saline and iodine frequently when we are feeling symptoms of all things respiratory. A session usually lasts about 5-10 minutes, and we will typically exercise this at bedtime for relief throughout the night when symptoms can seem exacerbated, but we have done it in the morning or mid-day, 12 hours from the previous session.
Breakdown of recipe:
If you are starting with 3% peroxide concentration, use ¼ tsp mixed with 7 ¼ tsp saline to end in a peroxide concentration of .1% I then only add about 2-4 drops of iodine in.
If you are starting with a 12% peroxide concentration, use ¼ tsp mixed with 5 ounces of saline to end in a peroxide concentration of 1% I then only add about 2-4 drops of iodine in.
If you are starting with a 36% peroxide concentration, use ¼ tsp mixed with 15 ounces of saline to end in a peroxide concentration of .1% I then only add about 2-4 drops of iodine in.
